NY Audition advice for New York? "A good strong handshake is the best. It shows that you're not afraid and you're confident."

Going to an audition is a lot of stress you know. However it's still the most realistic way to get acting jobs in movies, commercials etc.. What I'm gonna do here is give you some tips about acting auditions: First, you want to always be at least fifteen minutes earlier. Don't rush to your audition you need your time to get ready. Don't forget to bring a book if you have to wait longer than you though you would... especially if that's your first acting audition, you might be surprised! When you arrive there, remember to be nice with everyone you meet since you just really never know who that person is, might be the casting director himself! You might notice you're not alone wanting that role and you find yourself with a whole bunch of NY actors waiting, be nice to them but never forget that some could have a mean attitude to discourage you, protect your positive attitude!

The audtion clothes... aww , girls you become so agressive about that subject but hey, it's not THAT important. Talent is more but just remember to wear comfortable clothes unless you go for a specific role, like , a nurse?;) Then you BRING that nurse outfit lol. Well, you get my point. Normal clothes, not too snob, not too yuck. Hey, while I'm talking to chicks, NO perfume at a NY audition alright? Some might say you can put it on but don't take any chance to distract the casting director from your performance!

Next, " What are you auditioning for ? and for who? " That's something you really need to do, grab the more info you can about that company calling for that NY casting. What's it's business? Since when? Why do they need actors? Then you remind yourself all the key acting points of that company and you can have a small view of what they're looking for in an actor.

If you find that NY casting call through an NY acting agency that won't provide you that information, then you still go to that audition but you keep it short and sweet. Like a 60 second monologue is way enough for NY casting director to know if they like you or not! Bring more than one monologue in case the acting judges want you to act more, you never know. Ok next? The papers/headshots/resumé must be CLEAN and CLEAR , bring more copies than 1 in case they need a few. Now with the cheap printers we have , it's not a big deal to print 4-5 headshots at once ( talking bout recent printers). Your acting resume must be attached WITH your headshots or if you can do so, print it on the back of your resume but never staple your acting sheets. That's bugging! What about the right size of your headshot? Never bigger than a normal eight 1/2 by eleven. It's the normal standard headshot witdh.

Ok now how to set up your audition space: Need a chair ? Ask for one BEFORE it's your turn, nothing less convincing for NY casting directors than someone that's not ready and begging " Oh, where can I get a chair please? It won't be long!" Nah, you find it before and it'll be fine. But if there's already a chair in the middle of the stage and you don't want it, you still need to ask the acting responsible if you can move it away. All I mean is that you need your own space to perform your best. Always be happy, or seem to be, you put on your biggest smile and yes you might be nervous and all but relax, take deep breath and remember how small you are on this big planet and you're not the center of the universe! If you need to vomit though, vomit before the NY audition ;) lol.

A NY acting job is a lot of fun so you have and you must remain confident about yourself and know that you deserve that NY acting role since you've been working so hard! Do your performance and be "alright" without having to ask the assistants to many questions. Which question you should never ask to a NY casting director? " Will you guys CALL ME back ? " . They have a pen + a notebook, they'll call you back for sure if they loved your acting performance
